PINEWOOD AVENUE

Scents and fragrances have incredible, transformative power.  They can grab hold and thrust you back decades in time.  That's exactly what Pinewood Avenue is for me - a portal to a simpler time.  Pinewood Avenue takes me back to 1994 in Midfield, AL to my grandparents' house.  Meemaw and Gramps are inside watching Matlock.  I'm in the back yard, lurking in my Gramps' garden, rubbing pieces of mint between my fingers to smell the oils.  I'm caressing the homegrown tomatoes still on the vine.  And I'm marveling at the shiny, enormous eggplant hanging from the plants.  Pinewood Avenue is the perfect blend of these fragrances and it makes me smile each time I make it.  I hope it stirs similar memories for you.  I hope you enjoy the stroll back in time as much as I do.
