Join Us This Saturday (6/1) at The Market at Pepper Place from 7am - Noon!

Hey Y'all,

It’s time for the May edition of the City Candle Company newsletter, and we’ve got a lot of exciting news and fun recommendations to share. Sit back, relax, and let’s dive into all the juicy details!

Upcoming Markets We’re packing up our candles and heading to The Market at Pepper Place this Saturday, June 1st! From 7 AM to 12 PM, you can catch us spreading good vibes and great scents. This bustling market is the perfect place to snag our latest collections, chat with our team, and maybe even sniff out a new favorite candle. Don’t be a stranger – come say hi!

What We're Listening To Our candle studio (my basement lol) has been rocking out to Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road, Live from London 1975. The Boss knows how to keep the energy high and the creativity flowing. If you haven't had the pleasure of experiencing this iconic performance, we highly recommend giving it a listen. Turn the lights off, the sound up, and thank me later.

What We're Watching Confession time: we’ve been binge-watching like there’s no tomorrow. Here’s what’s been on our screens:

  • Survivor Season 46 – So this season just concluded and I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. I consider Survivor to be the best television show ever created, alongside Jeopardy. This season was definitely my favorite of the "New Era" (Season 40 - now). The cast was great and each episode was legit good. However, as a Survivor canon scholar, I can't help but think the overall game play was sub-par. There were multiple blindsides, which is peak TV, but 4 separate players went home with idols in their pockets. That's unheard of.  Overall, I give this season a 7/10. Worth a watch but HMU if you want truly serious Survivor season recs.
  • The Challenge: All Stars 4 – The first few seasons of this spin-off were good, but not great. You could tell the producers were feeling around for how to setup the show to get the best out of the aging "All Stars" while also ratcheting up the rivalries, drama, etc. This season, however, I think they've nailed it. The games and competition is better suited to a slightly older contestant group. They now focus more on strategy and know-how which is where these vets really shine. The producers have also gotten back to their roots on cinematography and music, harkening back to the style in which the show was initially portrayed in the early 2000s.  9/10 recommend.
  • Selling Sunset – (lol) The real estate is glamorous, the drama is outrageous, and we can’t get enough of it. This has been one of my wife's favorites for years and shamefully, it's now one of mine, too.

What We're Reading - Our current literary escape is "The Sportswriter" by Richard Ford. This novel dives deep into the life of Frank Bascombe, a sportswriter grappling with personal and professional upheavals. It’s poignant, beautifully written, and perfect for those introspective moments.

What We're Burning - We’re thrilled to introduce our revamped "Secret Garden" candle! This beauty features a new formula and a bouquet of spring scents like Peony and Magnolia. It’s like bringing a lush, blooming garden right into your living room – minus the pollen. Perfect for those sunny days when you want a touch of nature indoors. We'll be debuting this at Pepper Place this Saturday! Come by and check it out for yourself.

What We're Thinking About Big news alert! We’re gearing up to launch our wholesale catalog. That’s right, soon you’ll be able to find City Candles in shops near you. We’re beyond excited about this expansion and can’t wait to spread our love for candles far and wide. Stay tuned for more details – it’s going to be awesome.

Thanks for being part of the City Candle Company family. Your support lights up our world, and we’re excited to continue sharing our passion for all things candles with you. Reminder - we ship all over the USA and do local pickup right here in Birmingham! As always, if you need anything, just holler.

Cheers,

Seth, City Candle Company
