Fall and Winter Seasonal Candles

This Saturday we'll be debuting our 2023 Winter Seasonal candles - 'Les Incompeténts', 'Hearth', and 'Little Full, Lotta Sap'.  This is an incredible collection of holiday and winter fragrances that are certain to make your home cozier this holiday season. We'll be slinging these candles, plus our Fall Seasonals and the rest of your favorites at Woodlawn Street Market from 10am - 4pm. We'll be doing a giveaway at this market - with every order, you'll get a free City Candle Company koozie!  But wait, there's more - with every order over $50, you'll also get a City Candle Company canvas tote bag.  Don't miss out on these awesome pieces of merch.  Hope to see you there Saturday!

Before we get to the rest of the City Candle update, we've got a few candle giveaway winners to announce:

Winner #1 - Sunny Nguyen

Winner #2 - Lauren Wicks

Congrats to you two!  Please respond directly to this email to claim your choice of free candle (link to website here) and we will get those over to you pronto!

What I'm reading - American Pastoral by Philip Roth. Finished this one last week and its comfortably one of the best books I've ever read. I sincerely don't think I've ever read a book that as succinctly sums up the internal id of a man trying to be a father, husband, son, and more to all as American Pastoral does.  5/5 candles.

What I'm reading, Part II - Beloved by Toni Morrison. A little under halfway through with this one at the time of writing this.  Harrowing.  Scary, in more ways than one.  Morrison is masterful.

What I'm watching - The Challenge: USA.  That's right, I'm back on my bullsh*t.  We're almost to the final. I'm pulling for Bananas and/or Desi. Please, God, anyone but Josh.  This season has kind of been a bit of a snoozer though tbh.  I'm hoping the upcoming season will be a bit better and I suspect it will because we'll have some long-absent vets back in the mix.

What I'm burning - Are You Afraid of the Dark? - the October Small Batch. This is the spookiest candle we've ever made.  Its definitely not for the faint of heart..jk lol.  Its for everyone.  We also made a few of these in custom reusable stoneware vessels made by our good friend Morgan at Morgan Stoneware.  Morgan makes all of his stoneware right here in Birmingham, AL.  We'll be collaborating with him going forward to offer these as an option for our monthly small batches.  All of these custom vessels are eligible for our refill program - simply let us know when you've burned up the previous scent, and for a small fee that covers our expenses, we'll refill it with any fragrance you'd like for our lineup(s).  We have 1 October vessel left and we'll have it for sale at the upcoming Woodlawn Street Market.

What I'm listening to - Daddy's Country Gold by Melissa Carper.  This album (and artist) is so badass.  Carper is a Nebraska native but Nashville transplant.  The album is equal parts 60's country and 1940's swing/big band/do-wap.  Pretty amazing.  Highly recommend for anyone who digs that old-timey sound.

What I'm thinking about - 2023 Market Noel at the Finley Center in Hoover, AL.  We officially got into this holiday market and I couldn't be more pumped.  Its going to be the biggest event we've ever attended and vended at.  I'm thinking through how I should ramp up production to ensure we have appropriate inventory.  I'll have more information as we get closer to the event but rest assured, it should be a great time!
