The last few markets we've participated in have been some of the best we've ever done. And that's thanks to you all! THANK YOU so much to all who have come out, bought a candle, hung with us, and contributed to making City Candle Company such a joy in my life. As promised, we've got a few candle giveaway winners to announce:
April Cahabazaar Winner - Sami Ericksonn!
April Pepper Place - Jessica Allen!
Congrats to you two! I'll reach out to you each individually to get your choice of free candle and ensure we get those over to you pronto!
We'll be at Pepper Place again on Saturday, May 13 - Mother's Day Weekend. We will have all your favorite candles so come out, snag a gift for Mom, and check out the best market in Alabama.
What I'm reading - Crooked Letters by Stephen Godfrey. Godfrey is a sports media journalist and a host of one of my favorite podcasts, Split Zone Duo. He's written about many things involving college football and beyond, but this piece is probably his magnum opus. His history with new Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze is long and storied. Worth a read.
What I'm watching - The Last of Us on HBO. This series came out a few months so we are a bit behind but have enjoyed it thoroughly. Its a new twist on an old favorite - zombies. But not your garden-variety zombie born out of bacteria or viruses, but rather zombies born out of a fungi. Pretty cool. Decent acting and endearing characters. Stunning cinematography. 4/5 stars (with the right to reserve changing that rating as we still have 2 episodes left)
What I'm burning - Terra. We released this newest Luxury fragrance about 2 months ago and its been a HUGE seller at markets and online. It's one of the more unique scent blends we've ever put together. Petrichor mixed with spring rain. This results in a super earthy fragrance reminiscent of a rain shower hitting previously dry ground. Kinda weird and strange but it works. Trust me.
What I'm listening to - Middle of the Morning by Jason Isbell. I've been vocal about my admiration for Isbell in the past and will continue to do so in the future, given the strength of the songs he's recently released. This song is heartbreaking and relatable, a lot like most of Isbell's work. He's got a new album coming out in early June. IDK if my wife is on this newsletter or not but that album in vinyl would make a great Father's Day gift. Just sayin'....
What I'm thinking about - Upcoming Markets and new fragrances. We have a few markets booked in the next several weeks. We'll be at Pepper Place on May 13th and again on June 10th. I'm hoping to add Cahabazaar Night Market on June 24th. I'll keep you posted on that one. We'll then be back at Pepper Place July 8th. Hope to see you all there.
We're also in the process of readying our Summer 2023 lineup. We'll be relaunching two of our seasonals in early June: Gulf and Nectar. We'll also be launching two new candles. One is a new summer seasonal (more to come soon) and the other is a new addition to our luxury lineup. It's sultry, bold, slightly masculine, and delightful. Standby for more info in the next few weeks!
