Two weeks ago, we launched a brand new collection: THE TEA SERIES! A cup of tea is one of life's greatest, simple pleasures. Loose leaf tea is especially fragrant and the perfect inspiration for a new candle lineup. In this collection, we have:
- English Breakfast - clean and fragrant. Reminiscent of the quintessential black tea everyone loves
- Earl Grey - elevated and sophisticated. Bursting with bergamot and floral notes
- Silver Needles - named for a very popular type of White Tea, this candle is elegant and clean with subtle fruity notes
- Sencha - our riff on Green Tea. Filled with earthy, vegetal notes and a lemony finish
- Masala Chai - a nod the the very popular southeast Asia favorite. Sweet and warm.
To celebrate this release, we're offering 10% OFF all orders (not just the tea series) when you use code: TEASERIES at checkout. Get yours at the shop today!
What I'm reading - Empire Falls by Richard Russo. I finished this about 2 weeks ago and have been thinking a lot about it everyday since. This is a really great example of what I've seen called "Modern Sincerity" a la Jonathan Franzen, Don Delillo, David Foster Wallace, etc. Empire Falls was also made into a HBO miniseries with Paul Newman years ago. I plan on checking that out shortly.
What I'm reading, Part II - First in His Class by David Maraniss. I've read a number of presidential biographies over the last 5 years. It's probably my favorite non-fiction sub genre. However, I've purposefully shied away from recent-ish presidents (say, post-Reagan) because I don't feel like there's been quite enough time to appropriately and reasonably evaluate most of their policies or actions. So this is a bit of a first for me. That said, this biography doesn't actually touch any of Bill Clinton's presidential tenure. It stops right as he is getting inaugurated as our 42nd POTUS. I'm about 100 pages into this one. Maraniss is in the GOAT biographical author conversation so we're in good hands here. Will report back once finished.
What I'm watching - The Challenge: Ride or Dies on MTV. I can't and won't stop. We're into the final episode of a 3 part finale. I'm pulling hard for Jordan and Aneesa but I don't think they have the horsepower to win it all. My money is on Bananas and Nany. Kathryn and I have this recorded so we'll be watching it this weekend. No spoilers!
What I'm burning - Prune d'Hiver. Our winter luxury scent has been a big hit and was the Q4 2022 best seller. And for good reason. It's awesome. With mulled spice fragrances and woody undertones, this is the perfect candle to get you through the remaining winter weather.
What I'm listening to - Sierra Ferrell. She first came on my radar about a year ago while watching music videos on YouTube. Sierra is kind of hard to nail down. She's part Americana, part Folk, part Jazzy. She just performed at the Grand Ole Opry too! She's coming to Saturn in Avondale at the end of April but its sold out :( if anyone has a ticket plug, please let me know.
What I'm thinking about - Upcoming Markets and new fragrances. We have 3 markets booked in the next 8 weeks. We'll be at the night market at Cahaba Brewery on Saturday, March 4th. This is one of our favorite events. Tons of great vendors and great beer! We'll then be at Woodlawn Street Market on April 1st. This is an awesome event in a historic neighborhood. Not only do the vendors shine here but the food trucks are incredible. We'll then be making our debut at Pepper Place on April 29th. I'm so excited to join this marketplace and meet a ton of new customers.
We're also in the process of readying our Spring 2023 lineup. We'll be relaunching two of our seasonals: Brunch and Pocket Full of Posies. We'll also be launching two new candles. One is a spring seasonal (more to come soon) and the other is a new addition to our luxury lineup. It's likely to rival Pinewood Avenue as the most unique candle we've ever made. Standby for more info in the next few weeks!
