Two New Summer Seasonal Candles!

Today we released two new Summer seasonals - Nectar and Gulf.  I'm super excited about both of these candles and hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.  Nectar is meant to be a nostalgic play on the honeysuckles you and I and everyone picked right off the bush when we were kids.  Smells just like it.  Gulf is intended to conjure memories of family beach vacations to Lower AL and the Florida panhandle.  The musky sea salt mixes with clean linen to provide a timeless fragrance.  Jump right in!

Before we get into "a few things", I wanted to let everyone know that we'll be at Woodlawn Street Market in a few weeks!  This particular market will take place on Saturday, August 13th.  It's a night market running from 5pm - 9pm, so it'll be lit - literally and figuratively.  Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

We're also launching our new August small batch next week - Melon.  This candle is a final love song to summer and all its glory.  It's brimming with Honeydew melon, Cantaloupe, and Cucumber.  It's sweet and juicy, but pretty subtle.  Definitely not over-powering.  We will have this one at the upcoming Woodlawn Street Market, in addition to Gulf, Nectar, Brunch, Pocket Full of Posies and plenty more so come out to visit with us and grab a candle!

To celebrate Nectar and Gulf, we're offering 10% off all orders. No exclusions! No code required!  Simply load up the cart and head out.  Discount will be automatically applied at checkout.  But don't delay - this code will only last 2 weeks. Enjoy!

What I'm reading - White Noise by Don DeLillo.  I've also intended to read DeLillo, specifically his magnum opus Underworld.  I think I read about him and Underworld on a list of "great american novels" about 10 years ago or so, and have been intimidated ever since.  The length and supposed terseness of Underworld kind of put me off.  But I'm 34 now, damnit.  If I'm not ready now, then when?  White Noise is thought to be among DeLillo's best and most approachable work.  I'm about halfway through and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

What I'm watching - The Challenge: USA on CBS/Paramount.  For anyone who knows me, you know that even at my advanced age, I'm still a sucker for MTV's The Challenge.  I just can't quit it.  It's certified trash television and I love it.  CBS, which owns MTV, has decided to cash in on the show's recent surge in popularity and extend the show's format to a broad contestant pool.  They gathered folks from other CBS properties (Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother, Love Island) to take part in TJ Lavin's diabolical games.  I love it.

What I'm burning Triple Crown. The May small batch was inspired by the Kentucky Derby and mint juleps.  The mint really comes through in this candle.  The bourbon and sugar are softer notes.  This was a big hit at our Mother's Day Market at Cahaba Brewery but we still have a few left.  Head to the site to get yours before they are all gone!

What I'm listening to - Split Zone Duo. I've mentioned this podcast on the blog before but I have to hype it again.  Its the best college football podcast going by distance in my opinion.  They're really heating up going into the upcoming season.  What I love most about this show is the unorthodox and off-the-beaten-path subject matter they cover.  They did an episode last week on the history of the Tulane football program and when/why/how they ended up leaving the SEC years and years ago.  It was truly fascinating.

What I'm thinking about - upcoming markets!  As previously mentioned, we are booked and all set for the upcoming Woodlawn Street Market on Saturday, August 13th.  This market is unique in that its a night market.  It will run from 5pm - 9pm and its going to be lit, literally and figuratively.  We are also working on securing another, separate market for late August (more to come).

I've also been thinking a lot about Fall and Winter offerings.  After Labor Day, we'll have the relaunch of our Fall seasonals - Matzek Drive and PSL.  I've got two incredible small batches planned for September and October.  I'm certain you will love both.  I've also begun planning for November and December.  We're going to try to squeeze in as many holiday markets as possible so be on the lookout for some additional market announcements in a month or two.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at burncitycandles@gmail.com, or via any of our social media channels.  Also, for any local Birmingham folks, we offer local pickup in Crestwood so we can meet all of your candle needs at a moment's notice.  Hit us up!
